101. Illness due to wind and cold, as long as there is one or two Chaihu tang or intero yang symptom, we can apply the Xiao Chaihu tang, need not wait for full range of syndromes. If the patient of Chaihu tang syndrome is wrongly purged, but the syndromes persist, can apply the Chaihu tang. After consuming the soup, the body will tremble by itself and sweat to release the heat inside the body.

Note: In Shanghan Lun, sometime we use the soup to name the syndrome, mean the syndrome that normally can be treated with the soup. For example: the four main syndromes of Chaihu soup are alternating of fever and chill, fullness of chest, quiet and no appetite, nausea and tend to vomit. Just any of these syndrome occur then we may apply the Chaihu soup and we can call it Chaihu syndrome.
