30. Question: The symptoms manifested by the patient look like Guizhi tang symptoms, but after treating with Guizhi tang, the illness deteriorate, four limbs turned cold, experience dry throat, two calf cramp and painful, serious case even lead to delirium. The master predict the four limb of the patient will become warm around mid night, the legs can be stretched easily. The development of the patient later proven as predicted, we wish to know why? The master answer, "The top pulse of the patient is float and wide. Float is due to exo-pathogenic factor, wide and weak is deficient in energy. The exo-pathogenic factor can cause slight fever, weakness of yin fluid causing the calf to cramp and pain. Eventhough the symptom look like Guizhi syndrome, it is not. This is weakness in both exo-yin and exo-yang. When added Fuzi, it worsen the situation as Fuzi can help Guizhi warm the body and causing more sweating which can dehydrated the already weaken fluid system. Wrong treatment will lead to cold limbs, dry throat, agitation and other symptoms. To treat the problem, first we apply Gancao Ganjiang Tang, after consumption of the soup, the yang energy will resume at mid of night, the limbs will turn from cold to warm, but the cramp and pain may not be treated yet. After that apply Shaoyao Gancao Tang to regulate the fluid system, after consumption, yin fluid returned, both legs can be stretched easily. However, if wrong treatment hurting the yin fluid system and lead to dehydration, this will cause endo-constipation. The heat will push up causing delirium, emotional agitation. Need to apply Chengqi Tang to purge the internal stomach congestion. If after consuming the soup and purge out dried or liquid stool, the delirium will stop and the illness can be healed.
